Stalk in the Metro construction site, 12th shaft

This winter, our team from the DniproWay and Gallery_Dnepr channels ventured down into Shaft 12 of the Dnipro Metro construction site.

The shaft is located above the Teatralnaya station bypass tunnel; according to the original plan, it was to become a ventilation shaft, but under the new plan it will either be backfilled or become a ventilation shaft.

The tunnelling work took place in the early to mid-2000s (we found dates of 2004 and 2006 on the tunnel segments manufactured at DZMO), but the project was quickly abandoned due to a lack of funds.

This section served as a bypass tunnel for transport and an assembly chamber for tunnelling equipment, and the increased tunnel diameter is precisely what is needed to facilitate the installation of the equipment.

Tunneling is underway toward Vokzalnaya Station. The tunnel has an enlarged diameter of 7.5 meters at this point, and approximately 20 meters have been excavated.

We've been digging toward the future Central Station; we've covered about 20 meters in that direction as well
